Wooden Causeway

10 minsBring a hat

A long wooden boardwalk provides access to the temple island over the Jayatataka Baray reservoir. The path offers clear views of the water and eerie, skeletal submerged trees. There is absolutely no shade on the bridge. Bring an umbrella or a wide-brimmed hat to protect against the strong Cambodian sun.

Jayatataka Baray

Floods Sept-Nov

This massive ancient reservoir surrounds the temple island. During the hot season, the water dries up significantly. In the wet season, it fills up, turning into a lush marsh or a reflective lake. Visit between September and November to see the baray fully flooded for the best photos.
